SOUTH BEND, IN – March 2018 – With Jurassic World 2 coming out this summer, the award-winning local filmmakers behind the parodies The Dork of the Rings, Harvey Putter and the Ridiculous Premise, and The Throbbit are targeting the Jurassic Park franchise with Vulassic Park.

In the parody, entrepreneur John Hambone has brought extinct picklesaurs back to life in Vulassic Park, but the attraction needs the approval of some experts, including picklentologists Dr. Gallon Grunt and Dr. Bellie Tattler. A tropical storm sets the island into chaos and ferocious picklesaurs escape their pens: Velocigherkins, Dillophosauruses, and the might Tyrannosaurus Dill. Will the heroes escape the pun-filled terrors of the island (and a lawsuit from Steven Spielberg)? Find out when you journey back to a time when pickles ruled the earth!

The movie was originally filmed in 1993 and 1994 by director Tim Richardson when he was a theatre student at Indiana University South Bend and just starting his filmmaking career. He now teaches video classes at Riley High School and Saint Mary’s College.

Created with ultra-cheap but creative effects, the film was a regular staple on the local public access channel. For over 20 years fans and original cast members have encouraged Richardson to re-make the film, until he finally acquiesced.

Jurassic Park had a huge impact on me as a movie-goer and a young filmmaker. I only parody material that I have an emotional connection with, and for years I’ve thought about trying to do this particular parody idea the justice it deserves,” said Richardson.

Orchestrated by the filmmaking team of Richardson and producer Michael Kouroubetes, this movie has several returning cast members reprising their roles from ovder two decades ago, including actor Rodney Sciba, who has since performed in Chicago and Los Angeles.

"I had a wonderful experience on the original when I was merely 18 or 19 years old, “said Sciba. “Now, post 40 years of age, I am actually playing the real age of the character! I had a blast, and was amazed with what this crew accomplished on a minor budget. I cannot wait for the premiere and sharing this wonderful parody with all of you!"

Local public screenings are sponsored by the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts Department of Dance & Theatre and will be held at Indiana University South Bend's Wiekamp Hall room 1001 on Saturday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m., & 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 8 at 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., & 4:00 p.m., and Saturday, April 14 at 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m., & 7:00 p.m.
